For
the beauty of the gesture and the goal to contribute to the world
communication,
MINUS
DELTA T,
set up since 1980 the
BANGKOK
project , project of cultural exchanges
consisting to transport a stone of 5 tons and half, left the careers of
South WElls in England (origin of the site of Stonehenge) as far as
Asia.
The stone was conveyed through Europe on a truck arranged in
multi-media cell; without value at the beginning, it will
acquire
throughout way a MEDIA MYSTIC value and will become a
catalyst
symbol through the media, the rumours, the famous
personalities (Dalai Lama, Bruno Kreiski, Jean Paul II, etc...) which
will agree to come into contact with it. In Rome, in May
1982, it
will be even blessed by the Pope.

To
finance such an adventure, the members of
MINUS DELTA Thad
had the idea to print and to sell 19 967 actions, quantifies
corresponding to the number of kilometers which the stone was
traveliing to the HIMALAYAS. As the sale of the actions was
not
enough, they succeeded in finding sponsors (MILDE SORTE, MIELE,
CONTINENTAL, OLIVETTI, BIC, SHARP, PERSIL, MUESLI... ). These
assistances enabled them to live in quasi autarky all along the
trip. Thus the stone made its way through Europe then crossed
Turkey, Syria, Iran, Pakistan to arrive finally at New Dehli in 1983.
The conclusion of this first phase was the organization of the
BANGKOK Festival in
June 1983, festival of Modern art to Museum BYRASHI joining together
for 2 months a score of European artists. This festival has
represented the continuation of the project throughout the world.
From this adventure was born the
PHILOSOPHICAL DATA BANK, banks of
philosophical data:
MINUS DELTA T
installed in the Himalayas, to 3 000
m of altitude a trunk embedded in the rock, containing a
computer that the international visitors can record
theirs visions of the world and consult that for the others.
Keys are
distributed to the interessed people: scientists, artists,
philosophers.
The adventure is not finished besides: if the members
of
MINUS DELTA T
obtain their visa for China, they will carry the stone to Peking (it
currently stays in the GANGE).
CULTURAL
EXCHANGE

For
MINUS DELTA T,
the BANGKOK PROJECT represents the first global work of art of the
Eighties. The voyage consisted in specifying a cultural
exchange
and finding new forms with the art, the communication, the
economy. This research their made it possible to confront the
Western cultural system with the systems of the crossed countries, to
create new forms of expressions, new fashions of exchanges and new
philosophical concepts.
The members of
MINUS
DELTA T develops
Van Gogh TV
and Piazza virtuale within the framework of
PONTON
EUROPEAN MEDIA ART LAB.
